wargventure time by not-fun wargventure time by not-fun
my D&D character is a longtooth shifter warden.

when we got to the level where we could buy mounts, i pulled this warg we'd tamed out of storage and the GM gave me the okay to use it. then i gave it to our warlock and had a drow with far realms attachments wooji it in hopes it'd get a venomous bite.

...never trust the far realms. i got a void shaped like a warg with tentacles that flies instead. it took a little getting used to. but now i like the monstrosity that is my mount.

now if i could just give it a name...

That's one of the best mounts ever. Almost makes me sorry we decided to cover the ground on feet. And both their expressions are so adorable.

everyone in our group picked different mounts with different abilities - which is great from a tactical standpoint, because if you overspecialize you leave a huge glaring weakpoint that enemies can exploit.

as is evidenced by the other group with the same GM all riding blade spiders...and constantly winding up in TPK situations.

Well, we simply never much considered taking mounts at all. Not only we seem to be travelling places where having a mount would be more of a burden, but also only two of five team members are able to ride anything. Third would need a mount extremely resilient to being squished by all that meat and metal and the two remaining characters (including mine) simply ain't built for riding at all.

I have a mount of choice nevertheless, but I doubt I will ever get to use one.

I love when things going wrong end up being better than what you wanted in the first place. Like that time we got hired by a teleporter with a huge bounty on his head(He was worth more to us than his bounty), he got tracked down, we got accused of helping him. We thought we were screwed.

Long story short: We ended up in the favor of one of the most powerful people in the world, and friends (Somewhat) with another.

This isn't in DND by the way, it was in a similar game.

Nah, it's a local one that a friend of mine created, called Abantey. She made it because she didn't like the way DND was run, felt that it was too much numbers. In this, you can run a full mission without a single die roll, if you act the right way. It's coming up on it's 21st year of being active.

that's about how we ran the star wars game, any dice rolls were done by the GM on his end and we didn't see it. it was nice that way.

but our D&D group is a lot more traditional. it makes you superstitious though, i tell you what. i bought another d20 because the one i had kept rolling 3s.

Oh no, we roll dice ourselves, and the combat gets really intensive. It's just set up in a way so that you don't have to have good numbers to do well. The story Becky (the creator) likes to tell is once a group was getting their butts kicked by a really powerful mage, and the groups talker was hiding under a table. The mage back away from the main group to cast a powerful spell, and the talker pushed the table into him. Magic goes wrong, mage's head goes boom, little wimpy would-lose-to-a-five-year-old character saved the day.

Much more fun when you can upstage the number crunchers with good roleplay.

The best part is that she and her Boyfriend/other main GM have a continuing plot that's been running the whole 21 years, which resulted in an alien invasion/apocolypis/Absolute horror story thing a couple years ago that got dubbed the Dark Ages despite lasting about two months in game, which I got to play through.

There's also politics going on continuously that has resulted in the person we're trying to kidnap getting taken by a completely unrelated group /during/ our kidnap attempt. /Twice/
