you know i never really think about it?
but when grey's narrating, the comic is so liberating to draw.

i think it was like maybe three or four years back i decided the narrator would impact directly the way a page was laid out. or maybe not the narrator but the ...focus character...? maybe? since i flip flop a lot on who i'm writing for from scene to scene.

anyway grey's pages are always a lot more fun for me. i really like this one so far. there's just something...i dunno. FUN about drawing the way i think his mind would work.

script's not final though. especially in panel 2. i read that out loud and was like NOOOOOOO WROOOOONG *crosses out*

colour version will be on the site sometime in the next 48 hours, i hope.

Actually, I kinda know what that's like. After 15 years of wearing shoes (and suffering painfully through it!), when I decided to start going barefoot whenever possible it was quite a liberating experience feeling something different with every step -- even if it might be rather painful in a different way (certain kinds of asphalt or gravel) -- rather than feeling the same sock and shoe sole step after painful, monotonous step. Luckily, callouses grow and eventually (usually) make walking barefoot less painful and you still get to feel something different with each step.

yeah the greatest thing about warm weather for me is being able to put away the shoes and socks

i also can't wear shoes with thick soles like boots or nikes or anything. converse all stars have the thinnest soles, gotta stick with them. if i can't feel the texture of the ground to some degree i always feel like i'm going to lose my balance and fall over :B

Have you tried Vibram Fivefingers? [link] They're THE. MOST. COMFORTABLE. THING!!! [/Rarity] Wearing them is like being barefoot without actually being barefoot. I won't *EVER* go back to conventional shoes.

i've looked at those but the price tag always detered me.

True, they *are* a high initial investment -- although they're actually cheaper than most of the higher-end athletic shoes currently on the market -- but I love mine enough to have bought *FOUR* pair, and I've never regretted it. (In fact, my two oldest and most used pair show virtually no wear on their soles -- the uppers are showing their age, but the soles are darn near pristine!)

i dunno man, my rule against spending that much money on feet that'd rather be barefoot...kind prevents me :B

Well, I *do* live in a rather large city (Indianapolis), so my chances to go barefoot are kind of limited. That's why I adhere to two simple rules:

1. Barefoot when possible, sandals or Vibrams when necessary.

2. The price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance. (In other words, watch where you step!)

This page feels... so heartwarming, it's really nice to see Grey relax a little or at least smile a bit. It really feels like he's...what am I trying to say here... getting better? More confidant?

I assume we're shifting back into Grey's POV, I really like 'grey' pages, the layouts (While kind of tricky to read some times) are always really cool looking and really give you the sense that you're in his head. It's a little fractured and less orderly than a normal, menrtally healthy person's preception of things it seems. I guess that was probably what you were going for though since Grey is schizophrenic, right?

I like the swirly designs, are they supposed to be Chuian thoughts that Grey is picking up? =O

those swirly things are a speech balloon just from people talking, and you can trace it down to the originators - it's two conturians singing and exhaulting the knowledge god.

the squiggles are just their alphabet/language. i wanted it to sound alien, but since this is a comic that meant it had to LOOK alien. but i didn't want it to feel intimidating in any way so like most things on contura i tried to negate as many hard edges from it as possible and so we have a very loopy swirly alphabet.
